Bio

I wasn't born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could.

I was born and raised in Germany and graduated from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg with a masters degree in computer science and data processing technologies in 1991.

We, that's my wife, the kids and I, moved to Texas in 2000, bought a little Hill Country ranch and a couple of horses and haven't looked back since. I started doing serious photography in 2004 when digital single-lens reflex cameras became more and more powerful.

When the hobby began taking more and more time (and money) and people kept asking me if I could take pictures of them, I decided to turn the whole thing into a small business. A couple of years later I'm a fully equipped professional photographer with high end cameras, lenses, strobes, reflectors, light modifiers and a 640 sqft studio building on my ranch in Concan.
Frio Canyon Photo is a one man show and I have no plans to change that - except for the financial/accounting/taxes pain which is handled by my wife. Other than that, I am the business owner, the photographer, the retouching artist, the sales man, the webmaster and the one that takes out the trash.

Philosophy

Hmm, I guess an artist statement and "a vision" somehow belong to a photographers website. I really don't like tooting my own horn and I'm sure I'd be really bad at it, so let me just give you the shortest available version of it.

I love looking at good pictures, I love taking pictures and I love creating images. I simply love what I do and I strive to be great at it.

For everything else I'd rather let you be the judge.
